The Philippine government declared that 240 people are known to be dead because of the Tropical Storm Katsana, the floodi ng that occurred at September 26th, 2009. At least 37 people are missing right now. 450,000 people in Philippine have been displaced and 374,890 people are now living at makeshift shelters. Police, troops, and volunteers rescued more than 7,900 people.
United States has donated 100,000 USD and arranged a military helicopter, and five rubber boat manned by 20 men. The United Nations Children’s Fund and the World Food Program also provided food and aid.
There were much devastation during the flooding; streets and houses were covered in muck, trees crashed into buildings, and cars were floating on the water. Even though there was a big storm, telephone, water supplies, internet connections were not affected.
